Planning & Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Department coordinates growth and redevelopment within the City of Arlington. The Department administers and implements the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance (land use), and Subdivision Ordinance (platting). Land use and/or building permits are needed for a variety of issues. Please contact City Hall if you are contemplating any change to your property, including but not limited to: demolition, construction, or replacement of any structure or feature. You may pick up information and application materials at City Hall or download from below. The Planning & Zoning Department consists of the Planning Commission, the Zoning Official, and the Building Official.
Planning Commission
The City has established a seven-member Planning Commission as an advisory board to the Council. The Planning Commission meets monthly to address land use and subdivision issues. The Commission holds public hearings, reviews applications, and makes recommendations on conditional use permits, variance requests, development plans, and ordinance standards. The Planning Commission meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
